June/July = Guinevere Gets Sober

An award-winning, top-ranking addiction blog offering news, reviews, and straight talk about addiction and recovery

August = No Permanent Solutions

I'm 32, married, have a huge family, work behind a desk 9am–5pm and coach diving on the side. My favorite things in this world are my family, diving, dancing, corny movies, awe-ha moments (aka Godshots), silly hair, playful banter, and belly laughs. Any of these things shared with other people makes them even better! I'm in recovery from a myriad of dependencies, and I primarily relate as a recovering alcoholic, bulimic and cutter. I lived with major depression for half my life and have received 21 ECTs. Today I live free from the hell I believed I could only escape through suicide. I don’t know why I was graced with recovery after over a decade of pain and struggle, but I know I cannot afford to keep it to myself nor do I want to. I love sharing my story and my life today, and I hope that my experience might lend support and hope to others. Remember every experience we have will pass. Be present for the good as well as the seemingly bad, because both have value and both are only temporary.

Mothers Addicted To Alcohol - MATA

Australia ~ I am a 35 year old divorced Mum of two children who has been addicted to alcohol since I was 15 years old. Also known as an 'alcoholic', after 20 years of ups and downs I decided to create a forum for other Mum's who are, or think they are addicted to alcohol. I am not a doctor, therapist or alcohol counsellor but merely one Mum talking about my experiences of living with this addiction.

August Blog of the Month

My name is Emily, and I'm an alcoholic. It may sound funny, but I really like for people to know that about me. I know I know, anonymity is the foundation, its true, so I won't break anyone's but mine. I just feel better, safer, more honest knowing that I'm not hiding my past, but embracing it. By the grace of God I am in recovery and have been since July 2009. The program of Alcoholics Anonymous is the greatest gift, and it keeps on giving everyday. I have an amazing family. My husband is Nick, my two beautiful daughters are Myca and Reese, my crazy dogs are Chase and Pedro, and as for the rest of the fam...in due time my friends, its a loooong story. I hope to share my experience, strength and hope in this blog to others in recovery and to the still sick and suffering. I also plan to have a little fun with it as a woman, wife, and mommy :)

December Blog of the Month

Parker L. Holland, Michigan, United States 51 year old recovering alcoholic artist. Since I had my moment of clarity a few 24 hours ago I cannot stop drawing and creating things out of found objects.  Outsider/visionary in the truest sense of the word.  I have also included some pictures of the kinds of things I enjoy collecting and seeing.
My artwork is helping illustrate a new documentary.  It's a feature length documentary, produced by Josh Hays, written by Sherri L. VandenAkker, titled "My Name is Bette: Portrait of an Alcoholic Woman."  The film examines women and alcoholism, including women's risk factors for becoming alcoholic and relapsing and how the disease manifests itself in women.  The film is currently in production; the premier is scheduled for November 23rd in Boston, Ma.  More details later.
